von Z Boutique

23 May

Ah! It’s been over a week (I think) since I formally announced my BIG news and it completely slipped my mind to post on here. I know, I know, what the hell was I thinking?! Oh wait … I was thinking that I need to furnish and merchandise a store in 6 weeks because we are opening a pretty amazeballs boutique in Bucktown June 27th! To say I’ve been slammed is an understatement but it is 100% worth all of the work. Ok, a little bit about the boutique:

von Z, founded by Chicago designer Jenna Zielbauer and her husband Patrick Zielbauer, will be located in the trendy Bucktown neighborhood and will bring new flair to an already bustling shopping scene. von Z’s name pays tribute to Patrick’s ancestors, who dropped the ‘von’ from their last name von Zielbauer to during their emigration out of Germany in the 1700s. As such, in addition to carrying fabulous domestic lines as well as Jenna’s own brand Cotton Candy Couture (sold in boutiques nationwide), Jenna will incorporate established European designers to create an incredibly diverse shopping experience that includes contemporary apparel, shoes, accessories, and even a few sweet treats! von Z will be located at 1874 N. Damen in Chicago.

few of the lines carried are Bobi, Harlyn, Hunter Dixon, Pencey, Naven, oneoneseven, mata hari, Schutz shoes, Hazel, Dress The Population, Bardot, Blaque Label, Janessa Leone Hats (just picked up by Barneys) and Alice & Trixie. Our boutique will carry items as affordable as $35 – $350, kind of amazing right?

We are currently accepting resumes for interns and part-time sales associates. Please click here for more info!

Truth

16 May

I spend practically 24 hours with my dog who happens to be the cutest little French Bulldog named Rambo on a daily basis. I spend more time with him than I have with anyone in my life. He sleeps on my lap while I work, accompanies me on “lunch” break walks and has to sleep on top of me (literally) every night. My stomach apparently makes a great pillow, still unsure how I feel about that. This dog truly thinks he is hooman (my hooman to be exact) and has one too many child-like characteristics. He is pretty effing awesome and all of you will be getting to spend some 1:1 time with him soon. Can’t wait to spread the love.

Bikini Bootcamp

14 May

As I was chatting with one of my girlfriends last week about my eating habits and getting to the gym before 6am she told me I was crazy, bat shit crazy to be exact.  My eating habits are similar to a body builder (true story) and I see more of the gym than I do of my best friends on a weekly basis so I guess I kind of get where she is coming from? The truth is I am not on a mission to be a size zero or to be the skinniest girl in the room (ack). I want to be fit, to be healthy and most importantly to be strong. I eat a clean diet meaning I eat only unprocessed, whole foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and void of artificial ingredients, preservatives, “chemically charged foods,” sugars, saturated fat, and trans fat. I can not tell you the last time I ate something that came out of a box. I eat roughly 2500 calories a day with a goal of 190 grams of protein. It’s not an easy walk in the park but I’ve never felt better in my life. While I am not asking you to be as dedicated or “extreme” as I am, I am inviting you to partake in a month long challenge .  A month, 4 weeks, 31 days of doing something you otherwise wouldn’t do. I think the world would be a much happier place if being active and healthy was as common as brushing your teeth.

The challenge is as follows:

1) Give up sugar, dairy, coffee or alcohol. Pick one, just one and stay the hell away from it for 31 days.

2) Workout 5 days for at least 45 minutes/day. Push yourself. If you are typically a walker, do jog/walk intervals. If you are normally a runner, do sprint/jog intervals. Whatever workout you choose, change it up daily. You want to continuously shock and surprise your body.

That’s it! Easy peasy, right?

And obviously, when I start anything new it helps if I get something new to really kickoff my excitement. Here are a few workout items I am coveting:

I live on green tea, this tea kettle is everything.

boot3The perfect shorts to show off that booty you will be working so hard for.

I drink at least a gallon of water a day, a safe water bottle is key to this mix.

Happy eating & gyming, all. Xo

Weekend Recap

12 May

champ

No, this singular image was not a mistake. All I did this weekend was drink champagne and relax, like sit on my ass in over-sized clothing relax. With my upcoming work schedule I am taking every ounce of “free” time and making it “me” time which will pretty much be non-existent next month. Details coming soon! Xo

#CoachFromAbove

3 May

A couple weeks ago my stylist/photographer for Cotton Candy Couture invited me to an event at Coach she was hosting. The event was to showcase Coach’s latest spring/summer shoes & (even better) was going to give back 10% from all proceeds to Step Up Women’s Network in Chicago. Then she threw in there would be champagne so you know I was obviously planning on attending. Last night was the night and I can honestly say I am beyond impressed with the selection of handbags and shoes Coach is now offering. They have completely stepped up their game in the last few months and reinvented themselves from that classic ‘C’ bucket bag we all know. Here are a few (okay a handful) of the shoes I had my eyes on. To shop these bad boys  click here.

Benetton Blue Event

30 Apr

Last Thursday I spent the evening supporting my friend Jena (awesome name, right?) at a fashion event in the Benetton store at Shops at North Bridge. The event was to celebrate the color of the season, blue,  and they asked all guests to arrive in their favorite ‘blue’ outfit for a chance to win an “amazing” prize. As you may or may not remember I recently attended a fabulous breakfast in which women were asked to wear sequins. I, being the genius that I am, didn’t think anyone would participate so I left the sparkles at home. Yep – I was one of 5 that didn’t participate and felt like a total asshole. So as I got dressed for the Benetton event I literally said “eff it” to myself and decided to go all out. Prints, patterns and several shades of blue is what I showed up in and guess what  - I won the FREAKING prize! Needless to say, it was an amazing night and I can’t thank all of those involved enough.

Rise & Grind.

22 Apr

The one and only way to get through a slammed Monday morning and afternoon is with a little coco cafe. If you haven’t tried this stuff, get. on. it. It’s what dreams are made of.
